The incident came just a week after the Atletico Madrid manager had reacted angrily to Arsenal's Ben White stepping on the Atletico badge during the first leg in Madrid.
Bukayo Saka's first-half goal secured a 1-0 victory for Arsenal on the night, sending Mikel Arteta's side into the final in Budapest with a 2-1 aggregate triumph. Video footage emerged after the match showing Simeone looking down before deliberately stepping on the Arsenal crest as he headed down the tunnel, while most of his players chose to walk around it.
Atletico defender José María Giménez also opted to walk over the badge and was targeted by Arsenal fans watching from above. The home crowd's energy was praised by Arteta, who said: 'That box is ticked now... we have to maintain it. The high is not too high, the low is not too low... Let's enjoy the moment.'
Arsenal now face a crucial run of four games as they chase a Premier League and Champions League double. They travel to West Ham on Sunday before hosting Burnley and visiting Crystal Palace on the final day, then preparing for the Champions League final against Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain on 30 May.
