Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Photographed for First Time Since Epstein Arrest

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Duke of York, has been pictured for the initial occasion following his arrest in connection with the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. The 66-year-old ex-prince was observed walking his dogs within the grounds of his new residence, Marsh Farm, located on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. This sighting marks his first public appearance since departing Aylsham police station in February, where he notably attempted to conceal himself from photographers in the rear of a vehicle.

Arrest and Ongoing Police Investigation

The former Duke of York was apprehended in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office, stemming from allegations that he shared confidential information with the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein during his tenure as a trade envoy. Mr Mountbatten-Windsor served as the United Kingdom's special representative for international trade and investment from 2001 until 2011, when he resigned amidst controversy surrounding his friendship with the disgraced financier.

He remains under active police investigation by Thames Valley Police, whose officers are currently assessing claims that emerged from the Epstein files, which were released by the United States government. Reports earlier this week indicated that the investigation may be expanded to include potential corruption offences. Throughout, Mr Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing related to his association with Epstein.

Relocation and Public Backlash

The former Duke of York was compelled to relocate to the King's estate in Norfolk after public outcry over his rent agreements led him to surrender his lease on the Grade II listed mansion, Royal Lodge in Windsor. It was revealed that he had paid only a peppercorn rent for over two decades, having initially moved into the property in 2003. His arrest occurred at Wood Farm, where he is temporarily residing while renovations are completed at Marsh Farm, with expectations that he will move imminently.

Calls for Wider Probe and Succession Removal

Demands have escalated from various public figures for a broader inquiry into Andrew's past dealings with Epstein. Additionally, Commonwealth nations such as Canada and New Zealand have advocated for his removal from the line of succession. Despite being stripped of his royal title last year, the King's brother retains the eighth position in line to the throne, and an Act of Parliament would be necessary to eliminate him and prevent any future ascension to kingship.

It is understood that Sir Keir Starmer's government will contemplate introducing such legislation once police conclude their investigation into the King's disgraced brother. These calls intensified after Mr Mountbatten-Windsor appeared multiple times in the so-called Epstein files, including images depicting him bent over an unidentified woman and reclining across the laps of several women.

Email Evidence and Expense Allegations

In one email, Epstein appears to introduce the former prince to a woman described as "26, Russian, clevere [sic] beautiful, trustworthy" who expressed a desire to visit him at his royal residence. Furthermore, retired civil servants have alleged that he utilised taxpayers' money for massages and excessive travel costs during his period as the UK's trade envoy.

The BBC reported that a former civil servant refused to authorise payment for a massage on his behalf but was overruled by senior staff, stating to the broadcaster: "I thought it was wrong... I'd said we mustn't pay it, but we ended up paying it anyway." A separate former Whitehall official, responsible for overseeing finances, independently informed the BBC they had "absolutely no doubt" about the authenticity of the claim after reviewing similar expenses for his overseas trips.
