This final step follows the controversy surrounding the Duke's association with the convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.
The Final Titles Removed
The King has directed the cancellation and annulment of two significant honours. Andrew's membership of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, granted in 2006, has been revoked. Furthermore, his appointment as a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, dated 2011, has also been cancelled.
These actions were officially recorded in The London Gazette, the UK's public record, on Monday, 1 December 2025. The formal notice stated that his name is to be erased from the registers of both orders. This follows the earlier removal of his HRH style and princely title last month.
A Disgraced Exit from Royal Life
The Duke's fall from grace has been precipitated by the enduring fallout from his links to Jeffrey Epstein. Following a settlement in a US civil sexual assault case, which Andrew denied, pressure mounted for a complete separation from official royal duties.
The decision to strip all titles was agreed upon on 30 October 2025, with the formal enactment occurring on 1 December. As part of this severance, it was also announced that Andrew would vacate his Royal Lodge residence in Windsor. Symbolically, his coat of arms has already been removed from St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

While his royal and honorary military titles are gone, Andrew technically retains the rank of Vice Admiral in the Royal Navy. However, this position is now under scrutiny.
