Strictly's Amy Dowden Mourns Friend's Death After Childbirth

Amy Dowden, the professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, has announced the death of her close friend Bex, who suffered a blood clot on the brain just one day after giving birth. The 35-year-old shared the news on social media this weekend, describing her friend as 'the kindest person' and an organ donor who helped others 'right until the very end'.

In a heartfelt post, Dowden wrote that Bex had 'just given birth to her perfect baby boy the day before, completing her beautiful family with her little girl 3 and her true love, Sean'. She recalled cherished memories, including sharing a room at Blackpool, calming her before her first day of Strictly rehearsals, and making an eight-hour round trip to visit her during chemotherapy.

Dowden, who was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer in 2023 and underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy, announced in February 2024 that she had 'no sign of the disease'. She returned to Strictly later that year but was forced to withdraw due to a foot injury. In 2025, she was paired with Thomas Skinner and became the first couple voted off.

Despite these challenges, Dowden has expressed a desire to return to the dancefloor and reach Blackpool on Strictly, as well as pursue presenting and judging roles in the future. She concluded her tribute by promising to look after Bex's family and wrote: 'Love you dearly, my angel. Xxxx'.
