Matt Brown, the eldest son of the Brown family from the reality television series Alaskan Bush People, has died at the age of 43. His brother, Solomon Isaiah “Bear” Brown, announced the news on Instagram, indicating that the family had identified the body and that Matt likely died by suicide.
“Obviously, the coroner still has to look at him and stuff, but I thought that y’all guys should know that it is him,” Bear wrote in the post. Matt appeared in the first eight seasons of the show, which aired from 2014 to 2019, following the family’s off-the-grid lifestyle under patriarch Billy Brown.
Billy Brown, the family patriarch, died in 2021 at the age of 68 after suffering a seizure. At the time, Bear announced the death on Instagram, describing Billy as “our best friend – a wonderful and loving dad, granddad and husband”. A spokesperson for Discovery Channel, which aired the show, expressed devastation at Billy’s passing, calling him “a trailblazer, a lovely man and most definitely one of a kind”.
