Formula One legend and four-time world champion Alain Prost has reportedly been left injured following an alleged armed robbery at his Swiss home. The racing icon, who drove for Williams, McLaren, and Ferrari during his illustrious career, was physically attacked during the incident and sustained a head injury.
Details of the Incident
According to Swiss newspaper Blick, a gang of masked intruders forced their way into the family home on Tuesday, May 19, at around 8:30 AM. The masked men, allegedly armed, threatened Prost's family and forced one member to open the safe inside the property in Nyon, on the shores of Lake Geneva. The safe was subsequently stripped of its entire contents.
The 71-year-old, known as 'The Professor,' held records for most podiums (106), most wins (51), and fastest laps (41) during his 13-year F1 career between 1980 and 1993. He was embroiled in a historic rivalry with the late Ayrton Senna.
Ongoing Investigation
The assailants remain at large, and neither Prost's family nor the brands involved have commented on the incident. Questions have been raised about safety in the Lake Geneva area after 18 robberies were reported in 2025 alone. Authorities believe highly organized cross-border criminal groups have increasingly targeted wealthy residents, particularly owners of luxury watches and other high-value items.
Prost celebrated his 71st birthday in February and remains involved in motor racing, supporting the next generation of drivers. He has mentored Red Bull Racing's Isack Hadjar, previously described as 'Petit Prost' by Helmut Marko. Prost said in December: 'He has an incredibly strong personality. He doesn't need to copy anyone. It might not please everyone. But it's fascinating to see how he performs. I won't tell you how to adjust your car. However, I'd be happy to share my experience with you.'
