Adam Peaty Accused of 'Cashing In' After Changing Name to Ramsay-Peaty
Adam Peaty Accused of Cashing In on New Name

Adam Peaty has been accused of 'cashing in' on his new name since marrying Holly Ramsay, with the Olympian now set to compete at the Commonwealth Games under the name Adam Ramsay-Peaty. The 31-year-old swimmer tied the knot with Gordon Ramsay's daughter in December amid a highly-publicised feud with his own estranged family.

Family Insiders Speak Out

Sources close to the Peaty family claim the new surname 'opens doors' for him and insist that Adam, who is also said to refer to the celebrity chef and his wife Tana as 'mum and dad', will always be a Peaty regardless of the name change. One insider stated: 'As much as Adam wants to be a Ramsay, he is not. He is a Peaty. Adam has financial control and is cashing in on the Ramsay name because it opens doors. He is playing a role.'

The source added that Adam, originally from Uttoxeter, is 'embarrassed of his roots and upbringing' and has left his parents Caroline and Mark 'devastated' by the fallout. They commented: 'Adam may be rich but we have something that he hasn’t and that is brains, loyalty, integrity and family. Money makes for a cold bedfellow. It can’t hold you tight when things go wrong or when you have a bad day. When you live to be famous you aren’t living, you are playing a role. Fame is but fleeting but family is forever.'

Commonwealth Games Ambitions

Despite the controversy, the swimmer is aiming to become the first British swimmer to win gold medals at four consecutive Commonwealth Games, having made his debut 12 years ago. Ramsay-Peaty has already secured four Commonwealth medals at the Gold Coast Games in 2018 and in Birmingham in 2022. Speaking about his participation, he said: 'Being selected to represent your country is always an honour, and there is something special about a home Commonwealth Games. The event also marks a significant milestone in my international career, which began in Glasgow 12 years ago at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. I'm particularly excited to compete in Scotland this summer as I know everyone will come together to make it a brilliant occasion.'

Family Fallout Intensifies

The name change follows a bitter family rift that saw Adam uninvite his relatives to his wedding, except his sister Bethany. At the time, it was reported that Bethany had 'betrayed' her mother by attending the ceremony. Adam's parents, Caroline and Mark, and his brothers, James and Richard, remained in Staffordshire. Gordon Ramsay and Caroline were said to have clashed at the engagement party in 2024, when she was angered that several family members were not invited. Caroline was also not invited to Holly's hen do, leading to a scathing message from her sister Louise, which reportedly upset Holly so much that Caroline was officially uninvited from the wedding.

Relations have worsened further after it emerged that Adam now calls TV chef Gordon 'dad.' His aunt publicly criticised what she called her nephew's 'toadying behaviour,' taking to Instagram to express her anger. She wrote: 'Oh Adam your poor dad. How could you? That man literally worked his hands bloody in order that you could pursue your dream... He worked long long days as a brickie - a hard laborious back breaking job. He did it without moan or complaint.'

The Mirror has contacted Adam's representatives for comment.
