A Taste for Murder Star Reveals Last-Minute Schedule Changes Due to Weather
A Taste for Murder Star Reveals Weather Disrupted Filming

Warren Brown, the lead actor in ITV's new crime drama A Taste for Murder, has shared a behind-the-scenes secret about the show's production. Appearing on Monday's episode of BBC Breakfast, Brown admitted that despite the series being set in sunny Italy, the weather on location in Croatia often caused disruption.

Weather Woes on Set

Speaking to hosts Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell, Brown revealed that the stunning visuals belie the challenging conditions. "It looks a hell of a lot warmer on camera," he said. "It was earlier in the year and the weather wasn't always amazing. You watch it back and it's great and it looks stunning."

Sarah Campbell asked if the cast had to wear summer clothes even in cold weather. Brown confirmed: "Absolutely. There were a few occasions where we would get a call late at night 'it's going to rain tomorrow, we're going indoors' so the schedule would change at the last minute. But of course you watch it and everything looks fantastic."

Jon Kay joked about post-production magic to warm up the scenes, and Brown agreed. "You do some magic in post production to warm it up a bit," Kay said, to which Brown replied: "Yes." Kay added: "I'm not quite so jealous now," and Campbell chimed in: "I was thinking that."

The Show's Premise

A Taste for Murder is a six-part series following DCI Joe Mottram (Brown), a Metropolitan Police detective who takes a break after his wife's sudden death. He travels to Capri, Italy, with his teenage daughter Angelica (Beau Gadsdon), where his late wife's parents run a seaside restaurant. When a local man's body is found on the beach, Joe is drawn back into crime investigation, partnering with local Inspector Lara Sarrancino (Cristiana Dell'Anna). The synopsis notes: "Along the way, Joe learns to cook, and his exploration of Italian dishes provides insights and clues into the crimes he is investigating. His lessons with Gennaro and Elena in the kitchen ultimately help him to become a better cook, father and detective."

The second episode airs tonight (May 6). A Taste for Murder is available to stream on ITVX, and BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer.
