92-Year-Old WWII Veteran's Heartbreaking Plea After Post Office Account Wiped Clean
92-year-old veteran loses life savings in Post Office scandal

A 92-year-old Second World War veteran has been left financially devastated after becoming one of the oldest victims of the Post Office Horizon scandal, with his entire life savings wiped from his account.

Dennis Skinner, who served his country with distinction, now faces his twilight years in financial uncertainty after the faulty IT system showed a £59,000 shortfall at his local Post Office in Cheadle, Staffordshire.

'I've Lost Everything' - Veteran's Heartbreaking Account

Mr Skinner, who managed the Post Office for nearly thirty years, described the moment his world collapsed: "They took everything from me. I've worked hard all my life, served during the war, and now I have nothing to show for it."

The nonagenarian's case has emerged as one of the most poignant examples of the human cost behind Britain's most widespread miscarriage of justice, which affected over 900 sub-postmasters between 1999 and 2015.

Three Decades of Service Wiped Out

Mr Skinner's ordeal began when the Horizon system, developed by Fujitsu, began showing unexplained discrepancies in his accounts. Despite his decades of impeccable service and financial management, he was held responsible for the missing funds.

"I dedicated my life to serving my community through that Post Office," Mr Skinner explained, his voice trembling with emotion. "To be treated like a criminal after all those years of honest work is beyond comprehension."

Fighting for Justice in His Twilight Years

Now, at 92 years old, Mr Skinner joins the growing number of elderly victims demanding proper compensation and recognition of the injustice they suffered.

The public inquiry into the Post Office scandal continues to uncover shocking new cases weekly, with many elderly victims like Mr Skinner fearing they may not live to see justice served.

"I just want what's rightfully mine before it's too late," Mr Skinner stated. "No one should have to fight this hard for justice at my age, especially after serving their country and community so faithfully."
