Concerns over Donald Trump's health have resurfaced after the US President was seen with a visibly discolored hand during an official appearance at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, just hours before he is scheduled to undergo a key White House medical examination.
Trump's Discolored Hand at Arlington Ceremony
The 79-year-old president, who will turn 80 next month, participated in a wreath-laying ceremony alongside Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth. While the event proceeded without incident, observers quickly noted the unusual appearance of Trump's hand, which seemed bruised and covered with concealer.
Social media users were quick to comment, with one posting on X: "Trump's hand looks like a rotting $8.50 a pound of ground hamburger." Another remarked: "His hand is giant and blue." US-based journalist Aaron Rupar highlighted the timing, tweeting: "Yikes! a day ahead of his visit to Walter Reed, Trump's discolored hand is looking rough."
Medical History and Upcoming Exam
The bruising is not new for Trump, who has often displayed similar marks during public appearances. The White House has previously attributed these bruises to a combination of daily aspirin use and frequent handshakes. Swelling on his legs, another observed issue, has been explained as chronic venous insufficiency, a mild age-related condition.
Trump's upcoming medical checkup at Walter Reed military hospital will be his fourth known examination since taking office. The oldest person ever elected to the presidency, he will receive the checkup weeks before his 80th birthday on June 14. Despite the visible concerns, the White House insists Trump is in "excellent health."
Walter Reed's Role
Walter Reed is typically reserved for more serious medical visits. Trump was treated there for COVID-19 in 2020 and received preventative scans to rule out cardiovascular issues, according to his physician, Dr. Sean Barbarella. The facility is equipped with advanced imaging and can perform complex procedures beyond the capabilities of the White House medical team.
Trump maintains a round-the-clock medical team for routine checkups, but Walter Reed is used for more comprehensive evaluations. The timing of the discolored hand, appearing just before his scheduled exam, has intensified public speculation about his health.
