The next General Election for all established Community Councils across South Lanarkshire will take place on Thursday, October 22. The election will be conducted under the amended Scheme for the establishment of Community Councils.
Changes and Eligibility
All current Community Councillors will stand down from their respective councils at this time. They are eligible for re-election under the revised terms and conditions.
Residents can check whether a community council is active in their area by using their postcode.
Nomination Process
Individuals of voting age who are on the electoral register and meet the qualifying criteria may be nominated by a proposer and seconder for membership of their Community Council. Completed nomination forms must be submitted to the Community Council Liaison Officer by 4pm on September 10, 2026.
