American figure skater Alysa Liu won gold in the women's singles event, ending a 24-year drought for the United States. Liu scored 226.79 points, edging out Japan's Kaori Sakamoto (224.9) and Ami Nakai (219.16), who took silver and bronze respectively.
In women's freeski halfpipe qualifying, Great Britain's Zoe Atkin topped the standings and advanced to the next round. Canada's Cassie Sharpe also progressed but was stretchered off after a heavy fall at the end of her second run.
