TalkTV host slams Labour over migrant sex consent guide

TalkTV presenter Samara Gill has lashed out at the Labour government over a Home Office guidance booklet for asylum seekers, describing it as an "admission of guilt".

The Home Office issued a nine-page pamphlet titled "Understanding behaviours and expectations in the UK: a guide for asylum seekers", which tells refugees not to rape or sexually harass people, including partners and children.

Guidance sparks backlash

Speaking on TalkTV with host Kevin O'Sullivan, Gill said: "It really is an admission of guilt from the Home Office, because what they're actually saying is everything that the audience has been crying out about and that is an actual thing, and we've been saying for years that there is a sex crime epidemic that is overtaking the country."

Kevin questioned: "If you have to tell someone it's illegal to rape children in Britain, then you shouldn't let them in the country, should they?"

The guidance details what rape is, insisting that "consent" is needed in every sexual situation. It adds: "In the UK, people must say 'yes' to sex. This is called consent."

Viewers react

Online viewers expressed their thoughts on the Home Office guidelines, with one saying: "We don't want people who think it's ok to rape in our country. End of."

Another wrote: "It's an admission of complete failure and dereliction of duty. The public are not protected! We need a government that stops mass, uncontrolled migration. We need a General Election as soon as possible."

Home Office response

A Home Office spokesperson said: "We expect everyone who comes to the UK to abide by our laws. If they do not, they will face consequences, including the refusal of their asylum claim and removal from the UK."

The spokesperson added: "Returns of failed asylum-seekers have reached their highest level since 2010 under this government."

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood also wrote on social media, confirming: "Today's figures show more than 80,000 immigration offenders, foreign criminals and failed asylum seekers have been returned since July 2024."
