Oscar Piastri Shuts Down Pregnancy Rumours Amid Personal Revelations

McLaren Formula One driver Oscar Piastri has forcefully addressed persistent rumours circulating about his personal life, specifically denying claims that his girlfriend Lily Zneimer is pregnant. The Australian racing star made these comments shortly before qualifying fifth on the grid for his home Grand Prix in Melbourne.

Setting the Record Straight

"I think there has been one or two [rumours] where Lily has been pregnant or something like that, which is obviously not true," Piastri stated clearly to reporters. "There are some interesting headlines out there." The twenty-four-year-old driver, who maintains a notably private existence away from the racetrack, nevertheless opened up about the crucial support his partner provides him.

"It's very nice to have her support, definitely. It's an important part of any athlete, or any person, really, is having that support around you," Piastri explained in an interview with News Corp. "Having Lily around is always very nice and just a nice, calming influence and always able to help me get myself out of the tension and the stress of a race weekend and just have some nice quality time."

The young driver elaborated on how his relationship helps balance the intense pressures of Formula One competition. "For me, spending time with Lily, that's a big one. That's, for me, the most important thing. Some people like to chase adrenaline every second, whereas I think for myself the adrenaline I get from driving a race car is probably enough. I'm pretty relaxed and like to have a slow life in some ways away from the track."

Mother Nicole's Candid Family Revelations

Meanwhile, Piastri's mother Nicole has become something of a fan favourite, particularly in Melbourne where she raised Oscar in the affluent suburb of Brighton, located just minutes from the Albert Park circuit. Known for her sharp wit and engaging personality, Nicole recently offered fans a raw and intimate glimpse into her family dynamics, including her relationship with Oscar's father Chris.

Nicole revealed a particularly devastating email she received from Chris regarding their son's racing career. "I've emailed you a list of the stuff he needs. We'll be home in a week, he can grab all the stuff, say his goodbyes and drop him off, and we're good to go," Nicole recalled the message stating. This communication came after Chris had unilaterally signed up their fourteen-year-old son to relocate to Europe in pursuit of Formula One success.

"So they came home, and it may be one of the reasons we are no longer married," Nicole added poignantly, suggesting this incident contributed significantly to the breakdown of their marriage.

Traumatic Racing Incident That Changed Everything

Nicole also shared a harrowing account of how a horrific racing accident involving another driver fundamentally altered her approach to her son's career. The incident involved British driver Billy Monger, who was just seventeen years old when he crashed into a stationary car during a race at Donington Park in April 2017 – a race in which Oscar also competed.

Nicole learned of the accident through a message from Chris that simply stated, "Look, there's been an incident." Upon investigating further, she discovered disturbing footage from Monger's onboard camera. "As soon as I Googled it, footage came up from Billy's camera of him going into the back at full speed, into the back of the stationary car on the track that he didn't see because of rain," she told the Sydney Morning Herald. "And the footage was so disturbing that I vomited."

The aftermath saw Monger requiring the amputation of both his legs, while Nicole immediately flew to the United Kingdom to be with Oscar. This traumatic event permanently changed how she prepares for her son's races. "I don't dwell on it, but every single race I know how I would get to him as quickly as possible if I need to," she revealed, highlighting the constant underlying anxiety that accompanies her support of Oscar's high-speed career.
