Oxlade-Chamberlain: Perrie Edwards to Move to Glasgow with Family

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Announces Family Move to Glasgow After Celtic Signing

In his first interview since joining Celtic, former England footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has confirmed that his fiancée, singer Perrie Edwards, will be moving to Glasgow with their family. This comes just four weeks after the birth of their daughter, Alanis Valentine, marking a significant new chapter for the couple.

Celtic Contract and Family Plans

The 32-year-old athlete, who recently signed a five-month contract with Celtic, disclosed that Perrie and their four-year-old son, Axel, will join him in Scotland in the coming weeks. Oxlade-Chamberlain explained, 'Yeah, she will be up here for sure. We've just had a second baby, so she's only four weeks old. I think a few more weeks and they will probably head up here.' He added that Axel is particularly excited, as he has developed a love for football, making the move beneficial for him.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has 35 international caps, had been without a club since departing Besiktas last summer. He described the Celtic opportunity as 'exactly what I need', emphasizing the club's role in helping him regain fitness and achieve team goals. To maintain his condition, he previously trained with Arsenal and played for their Under-21s.

Overcoming Personal Challenges

The couple's journey to expanding their family has been marked by heartbreak. Perrie Edwards candidly shared on Paul C Brunson's We Need To Talk podcast that she suffered two miscarriages. The first occurred early in her pregnancy before Axel, whom she described as a 'rainbow baby'. The second loss happened at 24 weeks during preparations for Little Mix's final tour in 2022, which Perrie called 'the worst day of my life'.

She recounted the trauma of returning home from the hospital, with Oxlade-Chamberlain struggling to drive due to an injury while she was distraught. Perrie also highlighted the physical aftermath, such as her milk coming in days later, which compounded her grief. She praised her fiancé for his support during this difficult time, noting that he was 'traumatised' but focused on being strong for her.

New Beginnings and Support

Oxlade-Chamberlain reflected on the impact of the miscarriages, stating it took time for them to feel ready to try for another child. He expressed gratitude for being able to spend time at home with Axel and support Perrie during her recent pregnancy. The couple announced they were expecting their second child in September 2023, sharing an adorable video of Axel kissing Perrie's bump.

Last month, Perrie announced Alanis's birth via an Instagram post, which received congratulatory messages from fans and celebrities, including bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock. The couple, who got engaged in 2022 after five years of dating, are now looking forward to their new life in Glasgow, despite Perrie's playful complaints about the weather from previous visits.
