Michelle Keegan has admitted that returning to work after becoming a mother is 'quite daunting'. The 38-year-old actress is making her acting comeback in a new ITV crime thriller titled The Blame, alongside actor Douglas Booth.
New Role in ITV Crime Thriller
Keegan, known for her roles in Coronation Street and Fool Me Once, portrays DI Emma Crane in the six-part series. Booth plays DI Tom Radley. The drama is set in the seemingly quiet town of Wakestead, where the body of teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen is discovered, sparking a complex investigation into secrets, corruption, and betrayal.
Supportive Production
Speaking at the ITV Showcase 2026 event on Thursday, April 23, Keegan told host Graham Norton: 'Coming back to work after having a baby is quite daunting. The production were so supportive and I was so looked after and it was like working with family.' She welcomed her first child, daughter Palma Elizabeth Wright, with husband Mark Wright last year and took a break from acting to spend time with her family.
Cast and Crew
The cast also includes Ian Hart as DCI Kenneth Walter. The series is written and executive produced by Megan Gallagher, with Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee as executive producers for Quay Street Productions. ITV's Director of Drama, Polly Hill, praised the series as 'a brilliant new crime thriller full of surprising twists' that tackles police corruption, exploitation, and misogyny.
Keegan's Career Highlights
Keegan is best known for her roles as Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street, Georgie Lane in Our Girl, and Maya Burkett in Netflix's Fool Me Once. She has also starred in Tina and Bobby, Brassic, and Ten Pound Poms.
