Around 60 firefighters and eight fire engines were deployed to tackle a blaze at a mid-terraced house in Tolworth, south-west London, on Wednesday afternoon. The London Fire Brigade received the first of five calls reporting the fire at 3:47pm on Knollmead, a residential street in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.
Fire crews arrived to find part of the building's roof alight. A 32-metre ladder was deployed as part of the response. The fire was brought under control by 5:11pm, the brigade said. Crews from Surbiton, Sutton, New Malden and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the London Fire Brigade's Fire Investigation Team. No injuries have been reported. The property is located near Knollmead Primary School, but the school was not affected.
