In a stunning display of survival, a festival-goer miraculously escaped death after being violently struck by a raging bull during a traditional Peruvian celebration. The incident occurred at the San José Fair in the Las Delicias resort area of Trujillo, where Cesar del Rio Ganoza was participating in a bull run event.
Horrifying Footage Captures the Attack
Shocking video footage captured the brutal moment when a charging bull raced headfirst into Ganoza with tremendous force. The impact was so powerful that it threw him across the ground, leaving him momentarily stunned and vulnerable. Just seconds after the initial collision, another bull charged past the fallen man, missing his head by mere inches in what witnesses described as a heart-stopping near miss.
Chaotic Rescue Scene
Horrified onlookers watched as Ganoza lay motionless on the ground before several brave individuals rushed onto the track to retrieve him. More than a dozen festival attendees scrambled around the injured man, carefully lifting him by his arms and legs and carrying him to safety away from the dangerous arena. Despite the intensity of the blow that would have proven fatal in many circumstances, Ganoza somehow survived the traumatic encounter.
Recovery and Additional Injuries
Following the attack, Ganoza uploaded a selfie to social media showing his forehead and nose covered in bandages, with local reports confirming he is currently recovering at Belen Hospital. In a separate incident during the same festival, a 25-year-old man named Gianluca Monterosso Encomenderos was also injured after being struck by a bull, requiring twenty stitches in his arm.
Festival Inspired by Spanish Tradition
The northern Peruvian festival draws inspiration from the famous San Fermin bull running festival in Spain. The event features fighting bulls released along the main avenue of the resort, with attendees voluntarily running in front of the charging animals despite the well-documented dangers. This tradition continues despite numerous warnings about the risks involved.
Recent Bull Attack in Spain
This Peruvian incident follows a similar terrifying attack in Spain during September, when a seventeen-year-old teenager was repeatedly gored and tossed by a rampaging bull during celebrations honoring the Virgin of Angustias in Mocejon, Toledo. Video footage showed the animal pushing the youth against a wall before lifting him into the air and slamming him against a metal gate. The bull then dragged the teenager back to the center of the plaza, leaving him lying injured on the ground.
Other participants attempted to distract the animal by waving capes and pulling its tail, eventually succeeding in carrying the injured minor away for medical assistance. Civil Guard sources reported the boy suffered three gorings with wounds to his shoulder and abdomen, requiring stabilization at the scene before transfer to the University Hospital of Toledo.
