Georgie Thompson's Life After Sky Sports: Marriage to Sir Ben Ainslie and New Ventures

Georgie Thompson, the former Sky Sports presenter known for her work on Premier League Years, has built a new life away from television screens. Since leaving Sky in 2013, she has married Olympic sailing legend Sir Ben Ainslie, become a mother of two, and co-hosts a successful podcast with her husband.

Thompson, now 48 and known as Lady Ainslie, worked for Sky Sports for over a decade before departing. She then moved to the United States, where she presented for Fox Sports and appeared on Regis Philbin's sports talk show Crowd Goes Wild. After returning to the UK, she hosted BBC Radio 5 Live's Fighting Talk.

She married Sir Ben Ainslie, 49, in December 2014. Sir Ben is Britain's most successful sailor, having won gold at four consecutive Olympic Games and a silver at London 2012. The couple have two children: daughter Bellatrix, born in 2016, and son Fox, born in 2021.

Despite initially saying she would never date a sportsman, Thompson told The Mail in 2013 that she and Ainslie were 'in different places' at first but eventually 'the stars aligned'. Sir Ben described their contrasting personalities in an interview with The I in January 2024, saying: 'My wife, Georgie, and I are very different personalities. Georgie is a real people person – extrovert, outgoing, very confident socially – whereas I'm a bit more shy and reserved.'

The couple are also business partners, co-founding ainslie+ainslie, a performance powders business. Their podcast, Performance People, has featured guests including Mercedes CEO Toto Wolff, marathon icon Paula Radcliffe, and actor Stanley Tucci.
