A video has emerged on social media showing former Manchester United defender Gary Neville being verbally abused while walking down a street with his wife. The incident, which has been viewed 2.5 million times on X, shows a man hurling expletives at the 51-year-old football pundit.
In the footage, the man calls Neville a 'w*****' and a 'f****** p****', adding: 'You've got f*** all to know about the working class man you have.' Neville stops to ask the man why he is filming him, but the abuse continues.
Gary Neville's sister, Tracey Neville, a former England netball international and MBE recipient, hit back at the video on social media. She described the situation as 'truly scary' and said it was 'not delightful', countering a post that had called the footage 'delightful'.
Former footballer John Hartson also condemned the abuse, calling the man a 'moron' and saying such behaviour should be confined to one's television screen, not public spaces.
It remains unclear when the incident took place, and Neville has not commented publicly. The former Manchester United star, now a successful businessman, has been outspoken on political issues, recently criticising 'angry, middle-aged white men' for creating division in communities.
