A man has recounted a bizarre encounter on a flight where a woman asked him to swap his business class seat for her husband's economy middle seat. The incident, shared anonymously on Reddit, has sparked widespread criticism of the couple's perceived entitlement.
The passenger explained that he was seated in a business class pod when the woman next to him requested a swap so she could sit with her husband. He initially agreed, assuming the husband was also in business class, but was shocked when she revealed her husband was in seat 18B—a middle seat in economy.
“You can't seriously expect me to swap a pod for a MIDDLE seat at the back of the bus. Are you kidding me?” he recalled saying. The woman reportedly replied, “It's not such a big difference. And it's their bulkhead row so there's plenty of legroom.”
The man later learned the woman had been upgraded from economy to business class and seemed to expect someone would swap to upgrade her husband as well. He suggested she either sit apart or return to her original economy seat to sit with her husband. The couple angrily returned to the back, but the woman eventually came back, as no one in economy wanted to swap.
Reddit users were quick to condemn the woman's behaviour. One commented, “Do they really expect people to give up what they paid extra for?” Another added, “Some people are so entitled. It seems to be becoming more common.”
