Lisa Nandy faced a fierce backlash from BBC viewers after her appearance on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg. The Culture Secretary was grilled by Kuenssberg on a range of topics, including Andy Burnham's race to be elected in Makerfield and online safety.
As Nandy was pressed on her views, social media erupted with criticism. One viewer wrote: 'Lisa Nandy, what a waste of time. Off switch tempting.' Another added: 'Let’s kill all our viewers. I know put the dullest idiot on for 20 minutes @lisanandy Sunday morning hell.'
A third chimed in: 'Another Mandy car crash. Because it's NOT about child safety online. It's about control and censorship. We can't defend our own country or prevent kids from stabbing each other in the streets but we can spaf billions on walking and cycling and online safety.'
A fourth raged: 'Cannot answer a straight question, a complete waste of space like the rest of the @UKLabour cabinet. Useless and incompetent. Funding work-shy and leaving country unprotected!'
The interview, which covered multiple political issues, left many viewers frustrated, with some even switching off their televisions. The controversy comes as Nandy continues to face scrutiny over her role in the government.
