Since its debut in 2021, the Irish crime drama Kin has become one of the most-watched programmes across Ireland. The series, co-created by Peter McKenna and Ciaran Donnelly, is filmed and set in Dublin and centres on a fictional family embroiled in a brutal gangland conflict.
Originally broadcast on RTÉ One, Kin was later picked up by Netflix and BBC, leading to a second season. The cast includes Aidan Gillen and Ciarán Hinds as rival gang leaders, alongside Charlie Cox, Clare Dunne, and Emmett J. Scanlan.
Viewers have praised the series on Rotten Tomatoes, where it holds a perfect 100% rating. One fan wrote: 'Absolutely brilliant, one of the best I've seen up there with Peaky Blinders, the acting throughout is superb and the storyline is gripping.'
Despite concerns that the show might not return after its second season in 2023, reports suggest production for a third season may begin in July 2025. However, no official announcement has been made. An RTE spokesperson previously told the Irish Mirror: 'Kin has been an extremely popular series for RTE and if and when there's something to announce, we will be delighted to do so.'
