Boyband December 10 have opened up about their working relationship with Simon Cowell, describing him as a mentor who imparts wisdom during casual gatherings, including barbecues at his home. The seven-piece group, formed by Cowell on Netflix's Simon Cowell: The Next Act, consists of members aged 16 to 19 from various UK and international backgrounds.
In an interview, band member Danny Bretherton revealed they are in regular contact with Cowell. 'We were all at his house the other day for a barbecue chilling but also talking about the next steps,' he said. Despite the relaxed setting, Cowell does not handle the cooking—'We had chef Jeff to do that!' interjected Sean Hayden.
The band praised Cowell for allowing them creative input. 'He’s definitely got a good say, but we’re lucky that he’s happy for us to give our input a lot of the time,' Danny noted. Nicolas Alves added: 'Every opportunity we get to spend time with him he’s always imparting his wisdom upon us. It’s just a really good thing to have him as our mentor.'
Since their formation, December 10 have amassed over 16 million streams, 8.4 million YouTube views, and a social media following of 3.2 million. Their 50,000 mailing list sign-ups represent the fastest fanbase growth in Universal Music Group history. The band are set to tour next month, visiting Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, and other cities.
