Formal nights are typically held on the second-to-last evening of shorter cruises, with gentlemen expected to wear suits and ladies cocktail dresses or evening gowns. The evening features enhanced dining, professional photography, and special entertainment. Some week-long cruises may include two such evenings.
The passenger observed that on their most recent cruise, a handful of guests arrived at the main formal restaurant in casual wear, including short dresses deemed inappropriate for the occasion.
