Corbyn's New Left-Wing Party Chooses 'Your Party' Name in Member Vote
Corbyn's new party name chosen as 'Your Party'

In a significant move for British politics, Jeremy Corbyn has unveiled the official name of his new left-wing project, following a decisive vote by its membership.

A Name Chosen by the People

During the movement's inaugural conference in Liverpool on November 30, 2025, delegates cast their ballots to determine the party's permanent identity. The holding name used since the summer, "Your Party," emerged victorious from a shortlist that included "Our Party," "Popular Alliance," and "For the Many."

Announcing the result, Mr Corbyn declared to activists: "Your Party is the name of Your Party," a statement that underscores the member-led ethos at the heart of the new organisation.

A Radical Leadership Model

In a further demonstration of its break from traditional politics, the membership also voted to adopt a collective leadership model run by a committee of ordinary members, rather than having a single, traditional leader like the Prime Minister.

The vote was close, with 51.6% backing the collective option compared to 48.4% who preferred a single leadership figure. This outcome means that neither Jeremy Corbyn nor fellow ex-Labour MP Zarah Sultana will be able to run for the leadership of the party they helped found.

Building a 'Radically Democratic' Movement

Ms Sultana, who had boycotted the first day of the conference amid internal disputes over expulsions, described the leadership vote result as "exciting." She stated, "I have fought for maximum member democracy since day one. Seeing members choose collective leadership is truly exciting. Together, we’re building a new socialist party -- radically democratic and powered by a mass movement. This party will be led by its members not MPs. This is only the beginning."

A spokesman for the newly christened Your Party said the votes demonstrated a fundamental shift in political operations. "This vote shows that we really are doing politics differently: from the bottom-up, not the top-down," the spokesman said. "In Westminster we have a professional political class increasingly disconnected from ordinary people... With a truly member-led party, we will offer something different: democratic, grassroots, accountable."

The conference, which was marred by internal disagreements, nonetheless marks a pivotal moment for the left in UK politics, establishing a new, member-controlled entity with a clear name and a novel structure.
