Federal authorities have apprehended a California resident following a chilling alleged plot to assassinate conservative US Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old transgender woman Nikki Michelle Hilt from Simi Valley, was arrested near Justice Kavanaugh's Maryland residence on Wednesday morning following an extensive FBI investigation.
FBI Tip-Off Prevents Potential Tragedy
According to court documents, the investigation began when the suspect allegedly sent detailed threats via email to an FBI tip line. The communications reportedly contained specific threats against Justice Kavanaugh's life and detailed plans to carry out the assassination.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident approximately 40 miles from Washington DC in Montgomery County, Maryland. Law enforcement officials confirmed she was found in possession of tactical gear and weapons when apprehended.

Court filings reveal the suspect allegedly expressed anger over recent Supreme Court decisions, particularly regarding abortion rights and firearms regulations. The communications suggested she had been planning the attack for several weeks and had traveled cross-country specifically to target the justice.
