Green Party leader banned from Israel after Zionism vote

Green Party leader Zack Polanski has been banned from entering Israel after the party passed a resolution equating Zionism with racism, Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar has announced.

Polanski absent from vote

Polanski did not take part in the vote on the motion and left the Green Party conference after his speech on Friday to campaign in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election.

Green Party members voted that Zionism is racism at their party conference.

Official announcement

The ban was announced by Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, who confirmed that Polanski is now barred from entering the country.
