Caitlyn Jenner Learns Trump's Anti-Trans Policies Hit Close to Home
Caitlyn Jenner Faces Reality of Trump's Anti-Trans Policies

Thoughts and prayers are in order for Caitlyn Jenner. The Olympian and reality TV star is finally grasping that being a wealthy, white, MAGA supporter does not fully protect her from Donald Trump's transphobic policies.

What triggered this realization? Was it the millions spent by the Trump campaign on anti-trans advertisements during the 2024 election? Or perhaps the executive order signed hours after Trump's inauguration, mandating that government-issued IDs reflect an individual's 'immutable biological classification as either male or female'—meaning passports would show the sex assigned at birth?

Apparently, Jenner, who came out as transgender in 2015, dismissed those concerns. But when she renewed her passport and it arrived marked 'male' instead of 'female', she grew worried. Speaking on the 'Tomi Lahren is Fearless' podcast, Jenner said she initially thought it was an error and attempted to get it corrected. However, it came back marked male again, as per Trump's order.

'This is a safety factor. I can't travel internationally anymore, I can't use my passport,' Jenner complained. 'I'm trying to figure out at this point what to do. I don't blame President Trump. I love him, but for a lot of people, this is a huge issue.'

Jenner has reportedly tried to contact the president to resolve the matter, but he has not responded. 'I haven't heard from him,' she said. 'He's kind of busy right now. My gender marker is not big on the issue list.' She added, 'I'm not blaming him whatsoever. I love the guy, and I love what he's doing. I don't think this was really thought out, what this means.'

Yet the policy was indeed deliberate. Trump has kept his word on anti-trans measures, even if he has broken other promises. Jenner should not be surprised, as she previously criticized Trump in 2017 for revoking transgender student bathroom protections, calling it a 'disaster.' Still, she supported him in 2024, likely for tax breaks.

The cognitive dissonance is staggering. Did Jenner truly believe she would face no consequences for backing a man who openly despises trans people? She is not alone; many supporters think they will be exempt from Trump's cruelty. In 2019, a Florida woman named Crystal Minton complained after a hurricane and government shutdown harmed her community: 'I voted for [Trump], and he's the one who's doing this. I thought he was going to do good things. He's not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.'

Now that Jenner is personally affected, will she reconsider her support? Only time will tell. In the meantime, she can keep trying the president's phone number. He is busy, but perhaps he will eventually respond.
