Trump Firm Calls Green Leader 'Imbecile' Over Golf Course Demand
Trump Firm Slams Green Leader as 'Imbecile' Over Golf Demand

Donald Trump's firm has branded Green Party leader Zack Polanski an 'imbecile' after he demanded the US President be stripped of his Scottish golf courses.

Mr Polanski used a press conference in Glasgow on Friday to call for Mr Trump to be 'kicked out' of his golf courses in South Ayrshire and Aberdeenshire. He said the US President should have 'sanctions' imposed on him by Britain due to his military action against Iran and for 'enabling a genocide in Gaza'.

But, in response to the Green leader's comments, a spokesperson for Trump International said Mr Polanski is an 'imbecile' who 'should never be in public office'.

Mr Polanski spoke at the press conference, alongside Scottish Green co-leaders Ross Greer and Gillian Mackay, ahead of Scottish Parliament elections on 7 May. During his visit to Scotland, Mr Polanski has hailed a 'Green surge' in politics north of the border, at the same time as he has overseen an increase in popularity for his Green Party in England and Wales. He has also claimed 'eco-socialism' is growing in popularity across the world and pointed to the election of Left-winger Zohran Mamdani, a fierce critic of Mr Trump, as New York mayor last year.

'I would like to see Donald Trump kicked out of his golf courses,' Mr Polanski said on Friday. The Green leader added: 'The key principle here is that you have a man, as we do, who is enabling a genocide in Gaza, who puts on Truth Social that he intends to wipe out an entire civilisation in Iran. Are Scottish people happy with him being able to enjoy the privileges and joys of having a golf course? He says that he loves Scotland – but do the people of Scotland love him?'

Mr Polanski continued: 'I imagine that most people in Scotland, and around the UK, recognise that Donald Trump is an unhinged man. He's dangerous, he's unpredictable, he's putting our country – both England and Wales and Scotland – in a more dangerous place.'

Mr Polanski claimed it was 'absurd... that we aren't talking about sanctions on Donald Trump'. 'This seems like one of the least sanctions possible is to say that he can't come and enjoy the profits and the enjoyment of a golf course in a country that, quite frankly, can't stand him,' he said.

Mr Greer claimed the UK had 'obligations' under international treaties to levy sanctions against Mr Trump. 'We have obligations under the Genocide Convention to prevent genocide, to take action against those who perpetrate it,' he said.
