A violent thug who brutally attacked his partner while on holiday in Turkey and later assaulted police officers has been jailed for three years and three months. Jason Watson, 26, from Blackwood, Gwent, flew to Turkey with his victim last year but turned on her after drinking, leaving her face covered in blood.
Cardiff Crown Court heard that Watson attacked his partner again after they returned to Wales. The victim fled her home in only her underwear to escape his punches, kicks and threats, and later required hospital treatment for a head wound, eye haemorrhage and bruising.
When police arrived to arrest Watson, he became abusive and aggressive, throwing one officer to the floor. Another officer used PAVA spray to subdue him, but Watson kicked a third officer in the face, injuring his nose.
Watson pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of assaulting an emergency worker. He was on licence at the time for a previous dangerous driving offence.
Sentencing, Judge Paul Thomas KC described his behaviour as 'utterly disgraceful', adding: 'She fled her house clad only in her underwear to get away. You must be really proud of yourself.' Watson was also made subject to a five-year restraining order and banned from driving for 12 months upon release.
