Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is set to face England in a World Cup match on Tuesday, amid ongoing legal proceedings. Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one of sexual assault, with two further rape charges added later. He has denied all allegations.
The Football Association has left it to England players to decide whether to shake hands with Partey during the pre-match ceremony. The squad includes his former Arsenal teammates Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.
Partey missed Ghana's opening game against Panama due to Canada refusing him entry, as his visa application failed to disclose his criminal charges. The US has granted him a visa for the match in Boston.
Ghana's head coach Carlos Queiroz has stated that Partey should be presumed innocent until proven guilty. Partey is scheduled to stand trial at Southwark Crown Court next year.
