Texas Man Shot by Homeowner After Forcing Entry While Bleeding

A man in Texas is in critical condition after being shot by a homeowner whose door he kicked in while covered in blood, police said.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Monday in a Houston suburb. Witnesses reported seeing two men running near Campden Hill, one wearing a mask and the other bleeding from the head.

The bloodied man then went door-to-door, banging and shouting for help. Video footage shows him kicking in the front door of a home in the 4800 block, where the homeowner shot him.

Police believe both suspects are in their early 20s. The masked man, described as wearing a black hoodie and a jumpsuit, fled on foot and remains unidentified.

Investigators have not determined the cause of the man's initial injuries or whether he was assaulted before the break-in. Residents expressed shock, with neighbour Gerald Conkrite saying such violence is rare for the area.

Authorities are asking residents to review home-surveillance footage to track the suspects' movements before the shooting.
