A shooting at South Carolina State University has left two people dead and another injured, prompting a campus lockdown. The incident occurred on Thursday evening, February 12, at the Hugine Suites student residential complex.

Students received an alert at 9.15pm instructing them to remain indoors. The campus remained on lockdown four hours later, with investigators at the scene. University officials have not yet confirmed the victims' identities or the condition of the injured person.

Classes on Friday have been cancelled, and counsellors are being made available to students. The university has urged anyone with information to contact authorities.
