A popular snack brand beloved by model Brooks Nader is urgently recalling several varieties of its Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites after some packages were found to potentially contain hidden peanuts, posing a serious risk to individuals with peanut allergies.
Recall Details
The nationwide recall was announced through the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which warned that anyone with a peanut allergy could face a 'serious or life-threatening allergic reaction' if they consume the affected snacks. The recall was initiated by Pennsylvania-based co-manufacturer Bazzini LLC, which said it launched the action 'out of an abundance of caution.' So far, no illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported.
According to the FDA, the recalled products were distributed nationwide through retailers and promotional sample programs. The affected items include multiple package sizes of SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites with 'Best By' dates ranging from December 20 through December 29, 2026. The recall covers several package varieties, including 10-count, 6-count, 4-count and Easter-themed packs, along with larger multi-pack boxes.
Allergen Risk
The issue centers around undeclared peanuts - one of the FDA's 'Big Nine' allergens, which are responsible for the vast majority of serious food allergy reactions in the US. For people with peanut allergies, accidental exposure can trigger symptoms ranging from hives and swelling to breathing difficulties and anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction that can become fatal within minutes without emergency treatment. Food recalls tied to undeclared allergens remain one of the most common FDA enforcement actions. Federal data shows allergens account for nearly half of all food recalls issued in the US each year.
Company Background
SkinnyDipped, which counts Nader as one of its ambassadors, has become one of the fastest-growing premium snack brands in recent years, building a loyal following with products including chocolate-covered almonds, peanut butter cups and nut-based snacks marketed as lower in sugar than traditional candy. The company was founded in 2013 by mother-daughter duo Val and Breezy Vaught in Seattle after the pair began experimenting with healthier chocolate-covered almonds in their kitchen. The brand quickly expanded nationwide and is now sold at major retailers including Costco, Target, Whole Foods, Walmart and Amazon. SkinnyDipped surged in popularity during the wellness-food boom of the late 2010s as shoppers increasingly sought out snacks with cleaner ingredients, lower sugar and higher protein. In 2020, private equity firm VMG Partners acquired a majority stake in the company to help fuel its rapid growth.
Consumer Advice
Consumers are being urged to carefully check packaging for matching lot codes and expiration dates. Anyone who purchased the recalled products should stop eating them immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. The recall applies only to the specific SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites products listed by the FDA. No other SkinnyDipped items are affected.
