Prince Harry reportedly wants to bring his wife, Meghan Markle, and their three children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, back to England this summer, but one thing is stopping him: his ongoing legal battle over security arrangements.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not visited the UK as a family since nearly four years ago, when they attended the late Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in summer 2022. They returned a few weeks later for the monarch's funeral, but the children have not seen their royal relatives in person since. Harry hopes to change that, but his security dispute with the UK government remains unresolved.
Security concerns remain unresolved
Harry lost a legal challenge last year over the level of security he and his family receive in the UK after stepping back from royal duties in 2020. However, in December, the Home Office made a major U-turn, granting the prince a full risk assessment. Sources close to Harry told the Daily Mail that the camp is cautiously optimistic his wish for full armed protection is “nailed-on” and “will be reinstated.” But no final decision has been made.
Invictus Games event in July
The Duke is scheduled to return to the UK in July for a one-year-to-go event for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Sources told Page Six that while Harry would love to bring his children, no firm plans have been made, and matters are first focused on the Invictus event. If Meghan were to join him, it would be her first official trip back to Britain since the late Queen's funeral.
In a May 2025 interview with the BBC, Harry stated: “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” highlighting the depth of his security concerns.
