Police Investigate Ruby Rose’s Allegations of Sexual Assault Against Katy Perry

Victoria Police are investigating historical sexual assault allegations made by Australian actor Ruby Rose against singer Katy Perry, stemming from an incident at a Melbourne nightclub in 2010.

In a statement on Wednesday, police confirmed that detectives from the Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are looking into the alleged assault, which reportedly took place at a licensed premises in the city’s CBD. The investigation is ongoing, and police declined to comment further.

The allegations came to light after Rose posted on social media earlier this week, claiming Perry assaulted her at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Rose was responding to a post about Perry’s reaction to Justin Bieber’s Coachella set. Perry has denied the claims, with a representative calling them “dangerous reckless lies” and noting Rose’s history of making serious public allegations.

Rose subsequently stated on Threads that she had finalised her reports to police and was no longer able to comment publicly on the matter, describing this as a standard police request and a relief, adding that she could “start the healing process now”.

Reports from 2010 indicate that Perry and Rose visited the Spice Market nightclub on 6 August, with Perry also attending a high school formal at the Grand Hyatt hotel where the club is located.
