Victoria Police have launched an appeal to identify a man seen kicking a cat over a fence in a disturbing video that has resurfaced online. The footage, believed to have been filmed in the same backyard, shows two separate incidents of animal cruelty.
Officers from Horsham Police Station have already interviewed a 19-year-old man in connection with one of the videos, who is expected to be charged with animal cruelty. However, a second man remains unidentified, and police have released an image of a bearded individual wearing blue jeans and a grey hooded jumper.
The videos have circulated on Facebook for some time, with the most recent re-upload occurring on 27 February. In the first clip, the man entices a cat with food before kicking it over a fence, prompting laughter from bystanders. The second video, uploaded in March 2017, shows a similar attack on a black-and-white cat.
Social media users have reacted with outrage, calling for harsher penalties and questioning the existence of an animal cruelty register. One commenter noted: 'This stuff is invariably a precursor to nastier behaviours.' Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
