A convicted sex offender who breached his deportation orders has been arrested following a dramatic police chase through the streets of North London that was captured in a viral video.
Kebatu Hadush, 36, was apprehended by Metropolitan Police officers in the Finsbury Park area after members of the public spotted the wanted man and alerted authorities. The arrest came just one day after police had released his image to the public, warning he posed a potential risk to women.
Dramatic Footage of the Arrest
Shocking footage circulating on social media shows the tense moments leading up to Hadush's capture. The video depicts multiple police officers wrestling the suspect to the ground on a residential street as onlookers watch the dramatic scene unfold.
Hadush had previously been convicted of sexual assault and exposure offences in 2021. Despite being scheduled for deportation, he managed to remain in the UK illegally, prompting the police appeal that ultimately led to his capture.
Police Response and Public Assistance
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed the arrest, stating: "We would like to thank the public and media for their assistance following our appeal. Kebatu Hadush was located and arrested in the Finsbury Park area on suspicion of being an illegal entrant and absconding from immigration bail."
The spokesperson emphasized that Hadush had been considered "potentially hazardous to women" prior to his arrest, highlighting the importance of the successful operation.
The case has raised questions about immigration enforcement and monitoring of convicted offenders who are scheduled for removal from the country. Hadush remains in police custody as investigations continue and immigration authorities prepare for his deportation proceedings.
