Ex-Mob Wife Discovers Fake Bomb Outside Home Amid Terror from Jailed Husband
A woman who has accused her ex-husband—a convicted killer with mob connections—of threatening to "blow up her head" discovered what turned out to be a fake bomb planted outside their former shared home early Thursday morning, according to sources speaking to the Daily Mail. Christina Black's ex, Mark Liverano, is identified by police sources as a low-level associate of the notorious Gambino crime family.
History of Threats and Violence
In December, the NYPD charged Liverano with aggravated harassment for allegedly threatening to murder his ex-wife and her children using a high-powered rifle. "I will come to your house and blow up your head with my AR-15, and your kids' head with my AR-15 also," he reportedly told her during a phone call on December 7, as detailed in a criminal complaint filed in Staten Island. This incident left Christina fearing for her safety.
Just four days later, federal authorities indicted Liverano on additional charges, including stalking, extortion, and weapon and drug offenses. Records indicate that the 58-year-old is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, facing a nine-count indictment.
Ongoing Terror from Behind Bars
Despite his incarceration, Christina, 40, alleges that Liverano continues to terrorize her from prison. Remnants of police tape were still visible around the home and on the street following the latest alleged threat. Christina called 911 at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday after finding a ticking package outside her front door in Staten Island, New York.
The NYPD bomb squad responded promptly and determined the device was a fake. A police spokesman confirmed to the Daily Mail that the investigation remains ongoing. When approached at her home by the Daily Mail, Christina, who was not wearing a wedding ring, declined to comment.
Violent Past and Criminal Connections
Liverano has a violent criminal history, having previously been incarcerated. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter after shooting and killing Richard Boeke, a 37-year-old father of two who was attempting to break up a fight outside a bar in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Liverano was paroled in August 2014.
Following his release, he briefly dated New York City police officer Nancy Heinz, as reported by the Daily News in 2016. During that time, he accused Heinz of trying to persuade him to murder her ex-husband.
Recent Legal Developments
Records show that Liverano had been living with Christina in Staten Island in recent years. Christina has also used the surnames Black, Conrad, and Russo. The couple married in Brooklyn in 2022, and Christina filed for divorce just three weeks ago, on January 23.
His requests for pretrial release have been denied, according to court records. Liverano is being represented by lawyer Joseph Corozzo Jr., though prosecutors are seeking his removal from the case. They describe Corozzo Jr. in court papers as "a fact witness to the defendant’s criminal conduct, who either could be called by the government as a witness at trial or who could impermissibly act as an unsworn witness at trial."
Corozzo Jr. is a well-known mob lawyer, and his late father, Joseph ‘Jo Jo' Corozzo, was the reputed consigliere of the Gambino crime family, adding another layer of intrigue to this already complex case.
