An unconscious 21-year-old boater narrowly avoided colliding with two ferries after passing out while intoxicated at the helm in Steilacoom, Washington, authorities said.
Footage released by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office shows the small vessel drifting toward the ferries before veering off and crashing into a rock embankment. Witnesses can be heard exclaiming, “Is that dude okay?”
The driver was ejected from his seat, landed in the water, and then climbed onto the rocks. West Pierce Fire and Rescue officials rescued the man, who smelled of alcohol. Empty bottles were found scattered on the boat.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of boating under the influence (DUI). His boat was impounded. No injuries were reported.
