Gregory Zecca, stepson of Duane 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' Chapman, has been arrested six months after allegedly shooting and killing his 13-year-old son Anthony. Zecca, 38, was taken into custody on Tuesday following a six-month investigation by the Collier County Sheriff's Office in Florida.
Police allege Zecca was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana when he accidentally shot his son at a UFC watch party in Naples, Florida, on July 19, 2025. His blood alcohol level was 0.116, nearly twice the legal limit in Florida. Witnesses said Zecca had been drinking heavily and ingested marijuana, and had brandished his firearm several times, including dry-firing without a magazine. At some point, the magazine was inserted, and Zecca discharged a single shot that fatally struck his son.
Zecca has been charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm and using a firearm while under the influence. Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said: 'This case underscores the devastating tragedy that can result from mixing firearms, alcohol and drugs. Our hearts are with everyone affected by this loss.'
Chapman's attorney Joseph Lesniak said: 'We believe Greg loved his son deeply, and that this was a tragic accident — one that has left many lives permanently changed, especially Anthony's, and Greg's.' The family previously said Zecca had been placed on psychiatric hold due to grief, not guilt.
