DFDS Reminds Ferry Passengers to Keep Travel Documents Handy
DFDS Issues Travel Documents Update for Ferry Passengers

DFDS has issued an important reminder for passengers with upcoming ferry bookings, urging them to have all travel documents readily accessible before arriving at the port. The ferry operator shared the advice on social media to help ensure smooth journeys during the busy summer season.

Key Advice for Passengers

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the DFDS Live Updates account advised: "Please have all travel documents and passports to hand and open at the photo page before arriving at booths." The company further explained that passengers should keep passports, booking confirmations, and any necessary ID easily accessible for check-in and border control.

Check-In and Boarding Process

DFDS reminds customers that all passengers must present relevant documents upon arrival at the terminal. These may include a valid passport, booking confirmation, documents for vehicle or pet travel, and other required documents depending on the destination country's rules. Routine security checks of passengers, luggage, and vehicles are carried out at all ports before boarding.

UK eVisa and ETA Updates

DFDS also shared important updates regarding UK border control requirements. The UK is transitioning from physical immigration documents, such as biometric residence permits (BRPs), passport visa vignette stickers, ink stamps, and biometric residence cards (BRCs), to eVisas. Passengers holding a UK visa with physical immigration documents should create a UK Visas and Immigration account to access their eVisa at www.gov.uk/eVisa.

Those who already have an eVisa should ensure their travel information is up to date by notifying the UK Government about the passport they intend to use if it is not already linked to their eVisa account. For visa-exempt short visits to the UK (up to six months), passengers will still need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), which is digital permission to travel.

For more details, passengers can visit the DFDS website for comprehensive information on check-in procedures and border control requirements.
