Former Superman actor Dean Cain has announced he will become an agent with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to support President Donald Trump's mass deportation agenda. Cain, who played the iconic superhero in the 1990s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, revealed his decision on Fox News on Wednesday night.
Speaking to host Jesse Watters, Cain said he had shared an ICE recruitment video on Instagram, which led to discussions with agency officials. 'I will be sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP,' he stated. Cain is already a sworn deputy sheriff and reserve police officer, but this will be his first role with the federal agency.
Cain justified his decision by citing patriotism and support for Trump's immigration policies. 'This country was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not, and doing the right thing,' he said. He added that the immigration system is 'broken' and that Trump is 'delivering' on his campaign promises.
ICE has intensified immigration raids since Trump returned to the White House, aiming for at least 3,000 arrests per day. The agency recently received $75bn in extra funding as part of the president's 'big beautiful bill,' which includes hiring 10,000 additional agents by 2029. The raids have sparked protests across the US, with critics citing violations of due process.
Cain, who previously criticised the latest Superman film as 'woke' for portraying the character as an immigrant, called for others to join ICE. 'Hopefully, a whole bunch of other former officers, former ICE agents, will step up and we'll meet those recruitment goals immediately,' he said.
