A man has been left with critical injuries after a woman fell from a 19-storey building in Melbourne's CBD and landed on him. The incident occurred on March 5 while the man was reportedly smoking a cigarette below.
The woman died instantly from the fall, which police believe was a suspected suicide. The man was rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital and remains in critical condition.
Neither individual has been formally identified. Police have stated that the woman's death is not being treated as suspicious and are preparing a report for the coroner.
This incident follows a similar tragedy on March 4, when a man fell 14 storeys from the National Australia Bank headquarters on Bourke Street. That death also is not being treated as suspicious.
