A British woman has been found dead on a luxury superyacht docked in the port of Palma, Majorca. Spanish authorities have identified the deceased as a 29-year-old British national, although her name has not yet been released.
Emergency services were called to the £27 million yacht, named Lind, on Sunday evening after colleagues raised the alarm when she failed to respond to messages. Paramedics were unable to revive her and she was declared dead at the scene.
The Civil Guard has launched an investigation, but a spokesperson said everything points to natural causes. 'At this moment in time it is not being treated as a crime,' the spokesperson confirmed, though results of an autopsy are still pending. No signs of violence were found on or near the body.
The deceased was a crew member responsible for maintenance on the 170ft vessel, which is registered in the Cayman Islands and built in the Netherlands. The superyacht, which can accommodate up to 10 guests and 13 crew, features an open-air cinema, hot tub, gym and inflatable trampolines.
The yacht is owned by German billionaire Peter Alexander Wacker, who holds a 10% stake in chemical firm Wacker Chemie AG. According to Forbes, his net worth is estimated at $1 billion as of April 2024.
