British Woman Dies in Fall from Benidorm Hotel Balcony

A 21-year-old British woman has died after falling from a ninth-floor balcony at a hotel in Benidorm, Spain. Danielle Hall, reportedly from Newcastle, was on holiday with her boyfriend and his grandmother at the three-star Bermudas apartment hotel.

The incident occurred at around 2am on Sunday, just hours after the group arrived for a week-long stay. Local reports suggest Hall lost her balance while answering the door to a relative who was also staying at the hotel.

Spanish police have stated that the death does not appear to be suspicious. A police spokesman said: 'She was on holiday in Benidorm with her family and her boyfriend. At about two in the morning, she fell six floors – about 25 metres – and died.'

A hotel spokeswoman expressed shock, saying: 'We can’t give much more information about what happened because we weren’t there when it happened. It was about 2am. The police were here, along with firefighters, ambulance crews and forensic officers. We’re still coming to terms with what’s happened.'

Police have launched an investigation under judicial supervision and have been in contact with the British consulate. The group is believed to have been in Benidorm for the town's annual festival, which runs from Friday to Wednesday.
