Donald Trump launched a posting spree on Truth Social on Wednesday, sharing more than 30 messages in under three hours, a day after Democrats secured victories in several key US elections. The posts, numbering 33 between 4.17pm and 6.40pm ET, covered a wide range of topics, including book recommendations and a series of bizarre AI-generated videos.
Among the posts, Trump urged followers to purchase books by various authors, including Nicole Parker and his former lawyer Christina Bobb, for whom he wrote the foreword. Several videos appeared to feature Trump reading almost verbatim from his own earlier posts. The authenticity of these videos could not be independently confirmed, but analysis by Grok on X suggested they were artificially generated.
In the AI videos, Trump discussed topics such as his meeting with Japan's prime minister and a G2 summit with Xi Jinping. He also claimed Walmart had reduced Thanksgiving dinner prices by 25% under his presidency, and reiterated threats to Nigeria over the killing of Christians. Other posts criticised Obamacare as “really bad healthcare” and called Democrats “crazed lunatics”, urging Republicans to end the filibuster.
The series also included an image of Trump and Vice-President JD Vance marking one year since their election, featuring waxen skin and unnaturally white teeth. The posting frenzy followed Democratic wins in Virginia, New Jersey, California and Pennsylvania, and the election of socialist Zohran Mamdani as New York City mayor. In his victory speech, Mamdani directly challenged Trump, saying he knew Trump was watching and should “turn the volume up”.
Trump responded to the Democratic gains on Tuesday night with an all-caps Truth Social post, attributing Republican losses to his absence from the ballot and the government shutdown. The White House press office, when contacted, sent an automated reply citing staff shortages due to the “Democrat Shutdown”.
