Sky News presenter Mark Stone apologised after reading a social media post from Donald Trump containing an expletive live on air during coverage of the US midterm elections.
Stone, the outlet's US correspondent, is stationed outside the White House as results are about to be declared. He read out a post on Truth Social by Trump, made around two hours earlier, in which the President criticised one of the early polls emerging as polling booths closed.
Stone was forced to say sorry after mistakenly reading out the full expletive from the President.
Trump attacks Fox News poll
The post reads: "The FoxNews Poll, always the worst, is so insulting with the questions they ask. Every question is a hit job, and every answer is "BULL****!" This has been going on for years. President DONALD J. TRUMP."
Earlier in the night, Trump took to Truth Social to reveal he is watching the pre-election coverage on Fox News. However, rather than offering a final rallying cry, the President took aim at Jessica Tarlov, a political strategist for the Democrats who appears on the channel. Trump branded her a "LOSER" and said he would have to "go somewhere else" until she is "off the air".
Confidence in public, caution in private
Trump has expressed confidence about the midterm results in public, but US outlets have cited sources in his camp as saying he has "privately conceded" that his party may be facing the "worst case scenario".
Democrats need to flip four seats in the Senate and three seats in the House to gain control of the chambers from Republicans. The key Senate battlegrounds are in Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Ohio and Texas.
