Kellogg's Brings Back Toys in Cereal Boxes After More Than a Decade

WK Kellogg Co. has announced it is reintroducing toys inside some of its cereal boxes for the first time in over ten years. Starting Sunday, special edition boxes of Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, and Corn Pops will include plastic toys shaped like characters from Disney and Pixar's upcoming film 'Toy Story 5', set for release in June.

The move marks a return to a tradition that largely disappeared as manufacturers sought to cut costs and consumers raised concerns over choking hazards and other safety issues. In 2004, Kellogg faced criticism for including Spider-Man watches containing mercury batteries in its cereal boxes.

Kellogg stated that 'Toy Story 5' was an appropriate choice for the revival, as the film explores the role of toys in a technology-driven world. Laura Newman, vice president of brand marketing at Kellogg, said: 'Bringing toys back inside the box reintroduces that sense of discovery through a simple, screen-free moment of play that parents can now share with their own kids.'
